Once again, I know this question doesn't belong in this NG but since I don't
know any other NG that deals with these topics, I decided to post it here.
I'm a free-lance software developer and I was going through the Help Wanted
ads on Sunday and I noticed that there were several small companies looking
for full-time employees to work on their websites. Since I have a feeling
that they're better off with someone temporary (since they only want a
website), I was thinking of sending them something (via email or regular
mail) that would convince them to hire a free-lancer developer instead of a
full-time employee (basically, trying to advertise myself).
What's the best way to advertise myself to a particular client? I'd like to
convince them that the best way for them to save money is by hiring someone
for a short time (eg. 8 weeks) and only paying for the amount of
workhrs.(80*40= $3200) instead of hiring someone full-time and paying them
years' salary (2080 * 20 = $41600), vacation and sick days, bonuses, etc...
My resume is pefect for the position but I'm not interested in a full-time
position.
I'd like to rephrase this (and anything else you guys may suggest) into some
document, maybe a postcard, that I can send to other clients via regular
mail.
Also, are there any sites with advice for free-lance software developers
like myself where I can post these questions? I'm in Puerto Rico so the
sites that do advertising for free-lance developers are usually contained
within the continental US.
Any help or examples would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.
