ASP.NET Performance

Does anyone know whether there is an upper performance
ceiling in ASP.NET or IIS?

I have an ASP.NET application running on IIS under Win 2K
server crashes IIS when a certain level of transactions
are reached.

In specific, the WWW Publishing Service stops functioning
which requires a reboot to clear the issue.

Any help or clue would be appreciated.
