The Joke Is On Them...

I was thinking about all those /Indian Outsourcing/ companies getting
those .Net shops set up.

0. Nobody uses .NET in the real world, it's all java.
1. MSFT is about to collapse as witnessed by Bill Gate$ selling his
stock in droves.
2. Linux marketshare is eating up windos.

So when all is said and done, the wogs won't have much left for them,
will they?

Why are Linux advocates worried about marketshare? It's open source,
right?
Here are a couple other things to consider:

1. It's impossible to accurately track the global Linux marketshare
because of it's multiple points of distribution and manufacturing.
Anyone proclaiming they have accurate stats on this is a liar. (M$ and
Crapple only need hit their corporate headquarter tickers and they're
done.)

2. Microsoft is developing their own flavor of Linux. Sorry trolls,
it's true.
Care to guess why? It's simple. They can't steal it and there are too
many conflicts of interest to buy it, so they need to dupe it like a
white boy in Compton. When they sell their millions of copis of
"LinNT," will it increase the Linux marketshare? Don't hurt yourselves
trying to figure this one out.

Cheers

Hi J.A. Bailo [ a.k.a. Cron ] ,
You inform us ,
" Microsoft is developing their own flavor of Linux " .

Oh great , Yet another Linux " Standard " .

What is it designed to do ?
( I bet it's something very specific )

Hmm ... Why not have each application
come with it's very own operating system .

Cron wrote:

We're not. It's the windiots who are always taunting us by saying Linux
marketshare is blah or blah. Then when presented with real numbers
that indicate that Linux is at about 5% and growing, they hem and haw.
It's open source,
right?
Right, so? As said for the 4 google time, Open Source doesn't mean
that it can't be commercial.
Here are a couple other things to consider:

1. It's impossible to accurately track the global Linux marketshare

The same with m$. One can only believe the falsehoods and lies about
sales. Everyone knows that M$ props up its sales figures ( unit sold )
to prop up the stock price. The principle way that M$ people make money
is through stock and stock options. Of course, Bill Gate$ is going to
lie about units sold, so that he can foist his stock on the public at an
inflated price.
Anyone proclaiming they have accurate stats on this is a liar. (M$ and
Crapple only need hit their corporate headquarter tickers and they're
done.)
Same with Windos. M$ has been shown to lie time and time again. Why
should their sales figures be believed? Their veracity index is at an
all time low.

2. Microsoft is developing their own flavor of Linux. Sorry trolls,
it's true.
True in what sense? What evidence do you have to support this? When
is it going to be released? How will it circumvent the GNU GPL ?
Lastly, how will all their windos customers feel after being told how
terrible Linux is by Bill Gate$ and $teve Ballmer, to suddenly be told
that everything they said from 2000-2003 is bullshit and buy they way,
all those windos licenses are useless, now you should buy Linux. Huh?
Care to guess why? It's simple. They can't steal it and there are too
many conflicts of interest to buy it, so they need to dupe it like a
white boy in Compton.
Really? I don't see eminem and the Beasties at the top of the charts
anymore. I see Outkast and Fifty Cent. Guess sometimes people want
what's real.
When they sell their millions of copis of
"LinNT," will it increase the Linux marketshare? Don't hurt yourselves
trying to figure this one out.

That would have worked if they had done it in 1995. It will not work
now. The public has grown too sohisticated and now sees M$oft as the
_bad guy_ . IBM meanwhile is eating up marketshare with Linux. At
some point, nobody under the age of 50 will /trust Microsoft/ -- and
those are the people who buy new computers.
Cheers

You replied ,

While that's a very interesting observation ,
I accidentally omitted the word "Unique " .
P.S. 96.5 FM Seattle recently played Primus ...

Wynona's got herself a big brown beaver
and she shows it off to all her friends.
One day, you know, that beaver tried to leave her,
So she caged him up with cyclone fence.

Along came Lou with the old baboon
And said " Recognize that smell ? "
" Smells like seven layers ,
That beaver eats Taco Bell . "

Now Rex he was a Texan out of New Orleans
And he traveled with the carnival shows .
He ran bumper cars, sucked cheap cigars
And he candied up his nose .

He got wind of the big brown beaver
So he though he'd take himself a peek ,
But the beaver was quick
And grabbed him by the kiwis .
Now he ain't pissed for a week .

( And a half ! )

Now Wynona took her big brown beaver ,
And she stuck him up in the air .
Said "I sure do love this big brown beaver
And I wish I did have a pair . "

Now the beaver once slept for seven days
And it gave us all an awful fright .
So I tickled his chin and I gave him a pinch
And the bastard tried to bite me .

Wynona loved her big brown beaver
And she stroked him all the time .
She pricked her finger one day and it
Occurred to her she might have a porcupine .

Each user can compile one or more /unique/ Linux kernels for his
machine. If the user so desired, he could compile a kernel that is
optimized for a specific application or one kernel for each application.

That is something the Henry Ford Model T Windos approach could never do.

The documented question that you raised was, quote:

" Why not have each application

End quote.

My answer was an attempt to reply to that query, and since you have not
refuted that reply, I assume that it is a correct and sufficient
response, and one that could not be accomplished with Windows.

Again, as I said, your arguments are so easily refuted, that there is no
pain involved. It is, as we say in the old country, like /shooting

I wish that Bill Gate$ would send more challenging trolls to COLA, but
since they are falling so short of their 4Q earnings, I can see why Bill
Gates would rather give up the ship, sell all his stock and just take
care of himself instead of all the people who gave him their loyalty
only to be betrayed. But that is human nature, to be fooled by

P.S. 96.6 FM , Seattle ,
Beastie boys , _ Licensed To Ill _ ,
How here's a little story - I've got to tell
About three bad brothers - you know so well
It started way back in history
With Adrock, M.C.A., and me - Mike D.
Been had a little horsy named Paul Revere
Just me and my horsy and a quart of beer
Riding across the land - kicking up sand
Sheriff's posse on my tail cause I'm in demand
One lonely Beastie I be
All by myself - without nobody
The sun is beating down on my baseball hat
The air is gettin' hot - the beer is getting flat
Lookin' for a girl - I ran into a guy
His name is M.C.A., I said, "Howdy" - he said, "Hi"

He told a little story - that sounded well rehearsed
Four days on the run and that he's dying of thirst
The brew was in my hand - and he was on my tip
His voice was hoarse, his throat was dry - he asked me for a
sip
He said, "Can I get some?"
I said, "You can't get none!"
Had a chance to run
He pulled out his shotgun
He was quick on the draw - I thought I'd be dead
He put the gun to my head and this is what he said,

"Now my name is M.C.A. - I've got a license to kill
I think you know what time it is - it's time to get ill
Now what do we have here - an outlaw and his beer
I run this land, you understand - I make myself clear."
We stepped into the wind - he had a gun, I had a grin
You think this story's over but it's ready to begin

"Now I got the gun - you got the brew
You got two choices of what you can do
It's not a tough decision as you can see
I can blow you away or you can ride with me" I said, I'll ride
with you if
you can get me to the border
The sheriff's after me for what I did to his daughter
I did it like this - I did it like that
I did it with a whiffleball bat
So I'm on the run - the cop's got my gun
And right about now - it's time to have some fun
The King Adrock - that is my name
And I know the fly spot where they got the champagne."
We rode for six hours the we hit the spot
The beat was a bumping and the girlies was hot
This dude was staring like he knows who we are
We took the empty spot next to him at the bar
M.C.A. said, "Yo, you know this kid?"
I said, "I didn't." - but I know he did
The kid said, "Get ready cause this ain't funny
My name's Mike D. and I'm about to get money."
Pulled out the jammy - aimed it at the sky
He yelled, "Stick 'em up!" - and let two fly
Hands went up and people hit the floor
He wasted two kids that ran for the door
"I'm Mike D. and I get respect
Your cash and your jewelry is what I expect"
M.C.A. was with it and he's my ace
So I grabbed the piano player and I punched him in the face
The piano player's out - the music stopped
His boy had beef - and he got dropped
Mike D. grabbed the money - M.C.A. snatched the gold
I grabbed two girlies and a beer that's cold.

I am simply pointing out the quality of leadership, which is a major
difference between Linux and Microsoft. This is not an emotional issue,
merely another point of contrast in the two systems. On the one hands
is a system which is created by programmers, who seek to have openness
in code, so that the best ideas can evolve and prosper. On the other
hand, there is a system of secrecy and lies that attempts to create an
aura of mystery about technology to drive the price higher and higher,
but rather than create quality products that are worth that price, the
main thing is to try and keep the public ignorant and stall progress.

Life is a lottery of a sort. No one can deny that in many areas effort
and reward are not congruent. Otherwise, Richard Stallman would have 10
times the money of Bill Gates. But then here we are again talking about
the quality of leadership. In Japan, where they are noted, rightly,
for very high quality products, the top leadership generally makes no
more than 20 times the salary of the lowest worker. Yet they have a
prosperous society that produces quality goods and services and takes
care of most of its people.

Again, quality and honesty of leadership. It is not Linus who spews
misinformation about other technologies, he simply creates and offers
that creation to the world. The leadership of GLOSS ( gnu linux open
source software) has the highest credentials and the highest character.

The character of the Microsoft group is characterized by people of mean
spirit and low quality. This is why they produce such low quality goods
-- their own low quality is reflected in their products. In many ways,
Bill Gates is a loser in the lottery of life. He cannot produce goods
of quality, he can only hold on to supporting the Old Order and use that
system to gather dollars. Dollars which will soon slip away and become
more and more worthless as society advances and becomes more like the
GLOSS mentality.

You see this happening, and yes, of course, you must be shrill and
insulting because it threatens the Gateses and Relfs of the world where
rather than relying on sinecure and the Old Establishment, quality of
thought and leadership become more measures of success in the /lottery/.

Ok , I'll give you that ,
Linux is more innovative than Microsoft .

But what you don't seem to realize is this :
There is a time and a place for everything .

Linux works for Unique solutions ,
were specialists rule a tiny collection of servers .

Microsoft works for Standard solutions ,
where the soccer moms
rule a vast Virtual network of desktops ,
where each node is the Virtual king of it's domain .

But here you show the lack of experience, and thus your comments are
made without recourse to fact, knowledge or other valid means, much as
Bill Gates and Jeff Relf have never had a real job in computing.

For example, Jeff, your sole work in computing in the past 10 years, if
your comments are to be believed, is that of writing c code on windows
98 for a group of bankers who use this simulation to be trained. Now, I
would call that experience narrow, when it comes to making such broad
comments as you have written above.

My experience is a rich diversity of programming, support and systems
administration for companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, Nordstrom,
duPont. I have also worked for small businesses and medium businesses.
These jobs have included Information Technology companies, cell phone
companies, and many Internet and web related companies.

My experience gives me a different perspective, and that perspective is
far from that of Bill Gates and Jeff Relf, who have little or no
experience with the customer. My experience tells me that each and
every personal computer, or desktop, is just that -- /personal/ . The
whole beauty of the technology is that it is an /individual/ technology.

The marketing literature, and people of little business experience
outside of a restricted domain, such as Bill Gates or Jeff Relf, cannot
understand that the user is more concerned with optimizing his her or
her own needs -- not in interoperability with others. The business user
has very very specific needs, and the more those needs are met by a
particular combination, teh more that business person sees the value of
the technology.

Also, the home user. To blithely make sweeping and idiotic statements
and to belittle the home user about /standards/ is sheer unknowing
buffoonery -- better to sell the services of Bill Gates and Jeff Relf as
travelling clowns than to say that they even know the remotest bit about
the home user and desktop.

The real standards, as I have said many times before, for the user, are
not desktop, they are the standards of the Web and the Internet -- which
are so much more valuable to him than the old hackneyed code of Bill
Gates and Jeff Relf who fail and fail so much. The home user sees the
desktop as a portal to goods and services. He finds his own way to
connect and be served. He wants the choices of a stable browser (
Mozilla ) or a fast browser ( Firebird ) and not to be handicapped by IE
and other low or inadequate products such Bill Gates and Jeff Relf are
writing. They are only seeing a /mass market/ when all manufacturing
trends of the last 20 years are about custom products, tailored
services, not the 1890''s mentality of Bill Gates and Jeff Relf who only
create poor low grade software that is not adequate for the 21st century.

That is why Bill Gates must sell his stock and prepare for a limited
retirement because the services of Bill Gates and Jeff Relf are no
longer needed by the desktop users and the Bankers who need training on
better and better and better systems than what they are writing.

And thus your resume is a shopping list of all that is wrong with
society. Each item on this role of evil, shows that you have adopted
the aire of falsehood and using technology to berate and harass people
because that is what Bill Gates and Jeff Relf are prone to do. See that
list above, it is the list of Bill Gates and Jeff Relf who are not part
of business or the making of humans as better and better and better, but
as denigrating the spirit of humanity and all that is low or base.

This list above is not something that Bill Gates and Jeff Relf should
tout and make known, for in knowing that list above they make themselves
revealed and their evil revealed, and when I say evil I say it for a
very specific reason. And it is evil in the sense of trying to belittle
people with that list. Bill Gates and Jeff Relf take that list and
parade it in front of people and make those people feel so bad and make
those bankers feel so bad and then claim to have a standard. And where
is the standard? It is not an ordinary standard in the sense of
something good and right, but something bad and making peole feel bad
and Bill Gates and Jeff Relf are making those people feel bad to sell
something that is not a standard.

The web has it's place ,
but it is not the be all and end all .

I never said it was. In fact, I wrote a letter to .NET magazine (and it
was published) about my feelings on the Web and Web Services.

http://www.ftponline.com/wss/2002_11...ments/letters/

Here's the text if you're too lazy to click the hyperlink..

Web Services: The End of an Era?
In response to Mark Driver's Trends & Analysis column, "Navigate the Web
Services Hype Cycle [.NET Magazine, September 2002]:

I look at Web services another way. They are not a "new" technology, but
the culmination—or high point—of ideas about software and network
architecture using a technology curve that began in 1995 with the
appearance of the Web. As such, they represent the end of an era—kind of
like the best horse-drawn carriages that were made just prior to the
introduction of the automobile. .NET represents the continuation of the
client/server model that was "interrupted" by the Web. With DSL now in
place as the cheapest, most available, and most likely to succeed high
bandwidth technology, software can pick up where it left off when the
Web forced us into low bandwidth solutions (to serve consumer demand
over low speed modems). The "Web" part of the Internet is over. .NET is
a great software applications platform and a brilliant leap forward in
mapping object oriented programming (OOP) to the operating system and
network services.

Hi rawrite ,
You claim I'm " only seeing a Mass market " .

Thousands of bankers play my games every year ,
and each year it's a different set of people .

They meet face to face .

In fact these " Graduate School's of Banking "
and mostly a way for bankers to get drunk and schmooze .

They do their work in Excel .

They have no interest in rewriting the game .
they don't want to learn some esoteric version of Linux .

As I said before ,
There is a time and place for everything .
Your " One size fits all " mentality ,
" _ Everyone _ must innovate and program in open source "
just doesn't cut it .

What are you going to do when those banks start using Open Office Calc ?

( Once again I reproduce your words in full since their lies and idiocy
speak form themselves. )

Who do you think you're fooling ?

Banks want to save money and cut costs. The quicker they can get rid of
that simulation and convert it to a Java Web Start app -- the better.

PS - Did you run my CPU benchmark yet?

It's at:

http://home.earthlink.net/~jabailo/limit-cpu.c

My results are at:

http://home.earthlink.net/~jabailo/numbers

It's the only benchmark I've seen that makes sense.

I'm going to run it on my workstations at work tomorrow.

This is an infinite loop.
It just increments icounter by one and keeps printing it for ever.

It's actually quite easy to circumvent the GPL with a Linux
distribution. See how the likes of Xandros, SuSE and Lindows do it.
Sure, you can still take out the proprietary parts of their
distributions and pass those along, but consider this:

1. Often the proprietary parts are what make those distros worth while
(especially with Xandros and SuSE) and

2. for most it is just too much trouble to go through, especially if the
boxed distro has an attractive price.

So, if Microsoft were to create a Linux distro with some interesting
proprietary added value, they might actually make a tidy sum out of it.
Provided they don't price it at the level of their current software
offerings, that is.

PHBs would flock in droves to a Linux distro that had the Microsoft name on
it... especially if the proprietary parts for it were perfect support for
all existing ms-windows programs and a port of the explorer desktop to run
in X-windows on top of the Linux bits...

The other distros wouldn't be able to compete as they would be locked out
from the perfect ms-windows legacy app support that the "official"
Microsoft Linux would have.

Hi J.A. Bailo [ a.k.a. rawrite ] , Re: My resume ,
You say , " it is evil
in the sense of trying to belittle people with that list "

What ? Sometimes people hire professionals .

Why ? Because they have better things to do with their time .

No one is " Belittled " by that .

Open source is sometimes fine ,
I gave you some of my code , free and clear .

But that's Not always the best solution .
Hierarchies of ownership exist for a reason .

You don't want to own anything ?
You don't own anything ? Fine . Don't .

Hi J.A. Bailo [ a.k.a. SARS ] ,
You say the stock market is up .

The dollar is the stock of the U.S. government .

The value of the dollar is measured by how much oil it buys .

Oil was 10 dollars per barrel just a few years ago ,
now it's like 33 dollars ... and rapidly rising .

Read it and weep , Bailo and Che Guevara .
