deserializing w/custom namespace at root level

cp
I am trying to create a class that allows me to deserialize
an xml document (e.g. an rss feed). Everything works great
until I try to process a document that looks like:

<rdf:RDF
xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"
xmlns="http://my.netscape.com/rdf/simple/0.9/">
<channel>
.....
</channel>
.....
</rdf:RDF>

I can't figure out how to create the proper structure so
that the deserializer understands what it's supposed to do.
The custom namespace seems to be the crux of the issue. It
seems that I would be able to specify this as some sort of
attribute on the root element in my serializable class but
I haven't been able to figure it out. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. I've even gone so far as to take a
feed and try to reverse engineer the class with MS's
xsd.exe tool but that hasn't worked either.

thanks,
cp
