Write to machine.config in Framework 1.1?

Hi,

I have a configuration tool which reads and writes application
settings to the machine.config file. This program worked very well in
framework v1.0, but not in v1.1.

I use System.Configuration.ConfigurationSettings.AppSett ings(<parname)
to read the actual settings (and this works in both v1.0 and v1.1).
When I write I use System.Management.ManagementObject and New
System.Management.ManagementClass("root\NetFramewo rkV1:appSettings").CreateInstance().
Since the path is given to NetFrameworkV1, it writes to the old
machine.config.

I have tried to find a solution for how to write to the machine.config
of the new framework, but failed. How is this to be done in framework
v1.1 (and v1.2, 1.3, a.s.o)?
