Is there a way to acess .NEt web projects though UNC path
(aka network path)? Heres the situation:
1. Dont want to use FP Extentions
2. Can get a web project to open using //IP of
server/site folder name/proj file
3. Does not allow rebuilding of the proj file, says
network path //IP of server/site folder name/ does not
exist or has been moved, when you click ok, it put the
URL of the site in the path box to save.
4. If you manually type the network path //IP of
server/site folder name/ it fins the project file but
when you tell it to replace it, get access is denied b/c
the folder that the proj file exist in is marked as read-
only
Basically, we need to give our programmers acess to add
existing items from the test web server to the live web
server and be able to rebuild the project on the life to
update references. We want to do all this though the
local network path rather then the sites URL or though FP
Extentions.
HELP! :o(
PS: Ive alreadu heard that you can rebuild a project on
one server and simpply copy the files form that server to
the live server (BIN, DLLs and all) and the progrject
should still work. But eventhough weve made sure the
namespace is identical for both the live and the test
server, we've run into problems of the live not finding
refereces or deplicate refs when we try to run a stright
copy. So thats why we have been using "Add existing item"
when moving items to the live so all the references stay
stright.
