Hello,
I have built a service component to serve as a data access
layer for an ASP web application. The component is built
using C#.
To store passwords, connection strings, specify the path
to the component directory, etc. I am using the resource
file--config.resx--which is compiled into a
config.resources file. The file is read just fine. My
problem is that when I move the component to the web
server, I must place the config.resources file in the
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory for it to be seen, just as it
needs to be in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual
Studio\V98 directory if I want to use it with a VB6
application. The component is not seen in either ASP or
VB6 if I simply place it in the same directory as the DLL.
To resolve this, I was considering setting the component
path in the web application, and passing it into the
component as a parameter. Is there a better way of
handling this?
Thanks,
David
