ASP.NET Hosting Basics

Hi,

I'm probably very stupid not knowing the answer to this, but maybe
someone can help me please! I'm having sleepless nights.

Basically, I've created a very simple asp.net web application and can
view it through IE by going to 'http://localhost/TestApp/', however
what I'd like to do is to host my ASP.NET web application and would
like to be able to type in a domain name e.g.

I have my own internal network, as this excercise should not require
connection to the outside world.

For equipment I have:

1 PDC win2k Server
1 win2k Server (ASP.NET framework)
2 DNS servers, win2k Primary and Secondary

I would just like to eventually HOST my own ASP.NET web application to
the outside world.

I hope someone can help or point me in the right direction.

thanks

Create a new website using IIS Manager, and specify a hostheader, ie.
"internal.mydomain.com". Link this to the local IP addy of the webserver.

On your client machine(s), you can add an entry to your hosts file (located
in system32\drivers\etc), which looks like:

192.168.0.1 internal.mydomain.com

Works every time...;-)

NB: in the hosts file, substitute your webserver's ip addr for 192.168.0.1
