Problem with Parse/Format event in TextBox

I have a form with a textbox that is bound to a column in a dataset. When I
bind the parse/format events for the textbox, the data is handled correctly,
except for that it resets the modified flag. If a user types something new
into the control, the data is formatted correctly, but subsequent checks to
the modified property = false even though the data is changed.

I have tried making the IsValidated false, that keeps modified = true, but
then the dataset it not updated with the changed value in the text box.

What am I missing?
