times not matching up between vb.net and sql

I'm having an odd problem...

I got a field datLastUpdated in my order table, and when I do a select on
that field, it shows:
2003-08-06 12:02:40.807

yet after I load the order and select the value using
format(myReader!datLastUpdated, "yyyy-mm-dd h:mm:ss.ms")
I get:
2003-02-06 12:02:40.240

Why is the ms different, even though it's the same value in the same record?
..Net is like, changing the ms of the time it seems. I'm confused, help!
