VB.Net locks up when adding a Combo Box in Design mode

For some reason, the VB.Net interface is locking up when
I add a combo box to a form in design view. I have tried
adding other types of objects and they don't seem to
cause any troubles.

I tried doing a repair install of VB.Net that did not
help.

I hope this is something that someone knows an answer.
