Random DLL name error!?

Hey all

I'm currently deploying a web service to our new servers and am having
something of an issue with it!? When one of the applications that use it
wasn't working correctly, i ran the web service directly from the local
machine and "invoked" one of the methods. The error i get back is :

"File or assembly name fkyssw32.dll, or one of its dependencies, was not
found."

.... and dont be fooled by the DLL name, cos if i run it again, it will be a
completely different (but euqally as random!) DLL name! (eg This time it gave
me "94xmglqu.dll")

General Architecture is :

Win2003 Standard Web Server.
Web Service Code deployed on a network share (on a failover Cluster!), but
"Full Trust" persmissions have been granted to .NET on the local machine to
this share. (This works fine with all of our other shared code!)
Web Service Code Interopts with a VB6 component, deployed and registered on
the local machine. Am guessing THIS is where is issue is likely to be!?

Granting "Everyone - Full Control" permissions to the files concerned makes
no difference (usually the cause of probs on W2k3 :D), so am now at a bit of
a loss!

I'll keep trawling through KB, but if anyone has any ideas (solution!?) then
do plese let me know!

Cheers

Hi Mark,

I was suffering the same problem. I think it's a bug of the VS .NET. I
suppose your web service is referencing external DLLs, isn't it? That's was
my case and the DLL names where randomly generated too when the error
appeared.

The only way is to develop in local mode, but in order to try the web
service you must deploy it on the web server and call it from your local
machine.

I don't know if that solves your problem. It was simply my case. If anybody
has another logical reason, share it with us please. Bye.

Found it!! :D

You have to give permissions for the Windows Temp folder to the IUSR and /
or the IWAM users!!
