Grid computing with .Net web service in c#

hk
Hello,

I wanted to see if someone could help me with this approach. I would like
to start a long running thread with a web service. For simplicity let's
assume the web service has 3 exposed functions. One to start the thread,
another get the status, and a third to cancel calculations.

Is this approach possible using a web service? If so would someone help me
get started?

I'm starting down the road of creating the thread as a global variable in
the Application_Start event and then using that global variable to control
it.

Any response is appreciated,
Hans
