XLSTransform Extensions

Anyone familiar with these? I have some high level logic that can't be
implemented in XSL with the data that can be pulled from the database. I'd
like to implement some extension functions but was wonder if they'd be
faster than just taking the resulting string and doing string replaces on
predefined tokens.
