VS .net 2003 hangs on startup

I have started on a Visual C++ project, with .net Windows Forms. The
problem is that if I leave a form open in design mode and close Visual
Studio, the next time I try to open the project Visual Studio will hang.
However, if I rename the folder containing the project, and open the
solution containing that project (so that it can't find the project), then
rename the folder back and reload the project in VS all the forms open fine
in design mode.

I'm running VS .net 2003 pro - I'm thinking someone must've stumbled across
this before and can tell me what I need to change.

Thanks
