setting the version for a file

khw
Hi

I am trying to help our CM to do automation.

Our CM has to "stamped" the file. CM has to manually right click to
set the properties. We want to version the files we deliver to the
client. Since they are not regular EXE, so we have to add a custom
property, version, with the value, such as 1.1.1.x.

For the VB/VC++ generated programs, they are easy, we write C program
to change the version property in project file everytime we do the
release. For the program, that are not generated by VB/VC++, we have
to do it manually.

I have search all VB/VC++ function, and I can not find any
function/SDK that I can change the file properties. If anyone knows
how, let me know.

We are using Visual studio 6.0. I don't know when our company is going
to use the dot.net.

thank you in advance
