unusual service question

Hi,

i have a somewhat unusual question that is not really a c++ question, but
maybe one of you can help me.

I have programmed a windows service application that runs on an embedded pc.
the embedded pc functions as an electronics device, and my program captures
commands from an ethernet port and controls the io of the device.

the customer wants to see a status screen if a client is connected, so i
programmed a small GUI that is managed by the service in a separate thread.

the only problem is that the GUI is not visible if noone is logged in (ie
the system shows the logon box). have once seen a debugger tool that ran in
a window along the logon box. this was w2k or nt4, just like my system.

i know this has serious security implications, but in my case that is not an
issue.
does anyone know how such a thing might be done? i

kind regards,
Bruno.
