Status bar text for menu items

I want to put text in the status bar corresponding to the
currently highlighted menu item. This seems simple enough:
implement the Select event for each menu item (a bit tedious,
though).

The problem is this: how do I set the text back to blank when
no menu item is selected? There doesn't seem to be a relevant
event.

I also want to put the same text in the status bar when the
mouse moves over the relevant button in the toolbar, but have
not worked out how to do this yet. What's the simplest way to
find which button is under the mouse in a MouseMove handler?
