Array Help

Hello,
I'm trying to create this program that uses arrays. The way I want to use these arrays is something that is not covered in the book I have. This is what the excersize is. A person inputs his name and how much he sold, then the program calculates his commission. The problem isn't calculating the persons' commission, it's how the arrays is being used. This is how I wan to use it ( psuedo code speaking ):

//array
sales is initialized to 0;
names is initialized to 0;

//output

"Welcome to commission calculator"
"Enter your name"
//input

JOHN // THis is the part I"m stuck at. the array called names should increment an element each time the
array name [1] = john; user enters his/her name. I want this to happen also to the sales array too. ofcourse I'll use a w
while loop to increment, BUT IS THIS POSSIBLE???????????

//output

"Enter the sale you've made"
//input

$500.00
array sales [ 1 ] = 500.00;
