Logging to event log problems

Hi,

We have an existing application which only has the option to log errors to a
text file. We are thinking to add the option to log to the Windows event log
now. The problem I am facing is:

1) We have already defined the error strings in a rc2 file as a string table
2) We'd like to use the same string ID as the message ID when creating the
message file which is required for logging to event log.

My questions are:
1) Is there a easy way to create the message file using the existing rc2
file?
2) How to synchronize the rc2 file and the message file?

Thanks a lot.
