Running Visual C++98 on XP Pro

Hi!
I'm kinda new to this forum but I really need help from
all you geniuses out there pleaseee...!
I'm trying to compile, build and execute my C++ program
on Windows XP Pro. Previously I build my program without
a problem on Windows NT 4.0 sp6. I recently upgraded my
OS to XP and now I'm trying to build the same program
with the same Visual Studio Program but on a different
OS. Now it doesn't work.
Well I can install and run Visual C++ 6.0 on XP. When I
open my workspace and try to compile, the C++ just
compile and says in the output windows Compiling... but
after quite some time it is still the same. Just
Compiling...
This is also true when I click build and execute.
Please help me....

Thanks ever so much...
