Want items painted in list box to be present at startup

In VC++.NET, I paint GDI+ items in a list box which become visible when the
user clicks a mouse over it. I have DrawMode set to OwnerDrawModeVariable
and everything works as it should. But I would like the items to
be visible then the application is started rather than requiring the user to
click a mouse. How do I accomplish this?
