C1001: template function with template return type

I'm using VS.Net 2003. I get an internal compiler error
when I compile the following:

template<typename T> struct align_of
{
char dummy;
T obj;
};

#define ALIGN(T) (sizeof(align_of<T>) - sizeof(T))

template<int N> struct ALIGN_TYPE_FROM_SIZE { char x[N]; };
template<typename T> ALIGN_TYPE_FROM_SIZE<ALIGN(T)>
ALIGN_FN(T const &);

int main()
{
int i;
ALIGN_FN(i);
return 0;
}

Are there any service packs for the VC++ part of VS.Net 2003?
