Visual C++ 6.0 & Windows XP

Hi there,

currently we are being migrated from NT 4.0 (SP6)/ W2000
to W XP and we experience the following problem:

a simulator (MFC application) that normally runs
constantly in the background can be started and debugged
by setting breakpoints, stepping, etc ... under WNT 4 and
W2000.

If we try to execute the very same simulator from Visual
C++ 6.0 (Professional Edition) under W XP in debug mode
everything is well until we set a breakpoint and start to
step from breakpoint to next pass with F5. The system gets
into a deadlock (the task manager is still with us, but
not of any use to knock applications out). All of that
happens already after a few steps.

Did we neglect something obvious? Did anybody experience a
similar problem?

Very grateful for any kind of hint

best regards

Max
