XML and XSD help

I am new to XSD and want to ask few basic questions.

1) I read some where that I can use any namespace string in XSD since
namespace is just a unique

string and nothing more than that. I was playing around with the following XSD

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<xs:schema targetNamespace="NameSpace1" elementFormDefault="qualified"
xmlns="NameSpace1"

xmlns:mstns="NameSpace1" xmlns:xs="NameSpace2">
<xs:simpleType name="name">
<xs:restriction base="xs:string">
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>
<xs:complexType name="employee">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="Name" type="name">
</xs:element>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:schema>
When I load this document in VS2005, then VS schema designer does not show
anything. It forces to use

namespaces like
targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd"
and
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"

why this is happening ?. I should be able to use any namespace string.
2) In my above XSD example why I have to use base="xs:string" why not just
base="string". If second

way is correct then how string type will be resolved. I mean to say how the
basic/primitive types are

found or these are just understood by the parser.

3) Is there any way in VS2005 where a dummy instance document can be
generated(Given the schema

definition. Reverse is true VS2005 can generate XSD based on given XML)
automatically so that I can

fill in the details after that. Is it possible to validate an instance
document against XSD in VS2005

4) How can I link XML to XSD so that XML can be validated.
