Web Service Timeout Parameter

My question has to do with the process of calling web services. Typically
when the client calls a web service they can specify the timeout for the
call. My question is how the actual web service or individual method can
police this parameter so as to maintain better control.

Some of the web methods can accept larger arrays of objects which much be
processed individually. In that case I would like to be able to set a longer
timeout. Other methods within the same subset should take much less time and
therefore should have a shorter timeout.

Is there a way to specify the default timeout for individual web methods
either within the project or within the web method itself?

There is a web services group
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.webservic es where you should
find more expertise than here.

Hello
I donot think that we cannot control the time out parameter set by the
client in the web service. The client can be written in any language.
I may be wrong.
Thanks
Deepak
