Please Help me to understand ??

Dear all,

I am a VB programmer since 10 years and now since 1 year I use vb.net fro
building windows application. Most of my application are collecting data from
database and sotre those data back to database or export them to csv file for
other purpose.

Today everyone is talking about XML and I have seen that in .net we can have
some XLM document, transformation template and a lot more but I really do not
see any clear practical case where this can be use.

DOes it means now that any application should impleemnet XML?

AS far as I understand, not so much in fact, xml document can be read within
a browser, but if I open a web xml document in a browser I can see exactlz
the same content as if I open it with note pad so whre is the goal ?

What could be the tips that will ring my bell saying that I need to
implement xml?

SO many question unclear, in fact I do not catch at all the use of such
format in real application case.

For example if my customer told me that he needs to maintain a catralog of
1000 books and be able to acces them rapidly I know that I will build this a
round database structure and if my customer told me that ghe would like to
export certain data for beeing visible under Excel I know then that I will
export my data in CSV file format.

WHat about this all XML stuff then ?

I havve read many article on the net, but still did not catch the real
application case purpose.

Thnaks for helping me
regards
serge
