Sending Word Document as an attachement.

I have a word document that I need to send it as an attachment to an XML
file. Basically, converting into byte array or using some encoding
mechanism. This has to be done through XML serialization in c#. Is it
possible to do it through xml serialization ?

THanks,
--Emily

I would convert the Word document into Base64 encoding first. Open the XML
Document and insert the Base64 encoded text to the appropriate node.

Victor,

I can convert that into base 64 encoding. But How do I read the word
document in .NET ? There is a COM component that .NET supports Microsoft
Office 10.0/9.0 Object library to access the word document properties..
I am not sure whether this is the right approach.. Can you point me to
some documentation resources and explain how to do this (with an
example, if possible)??

Thanks,

This is quite common to do, the term is "Automation", so if you search
Google for ".Net Office Automation" that will return you a lot of hits to
help you get started. If you are familiar with this method in other
languages (VB 6.0, Delphi or even Java) it works exactly the same - apart
from the syntax and the COM interop approach in different languages. (try
this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302902/EN-US/).

If you want to actually 'open' and 'view' Word doc in .Net natively in
WinForm this is not currently possible. The only way to do this is by
embedding a WebBrowser control in your project and open the Word Document
through that web browser control.
