Which platform to use...???

I'm wanting to create a windows service application
using .NET whose function is to copy/move files from
network node A to network node B, in a backup capacity.
I've already developed most of the GUI that allows
creation/editing of job files, saving them in XML format.
The only remaining GUI component is scheduling the jobs
to run using the Task Scheduler, which I believe I have a
good plan for.

However, I'm not sure how to proceed with
designing/developing the Windows Service... The idea is
to have it installed on a workstation (maybe a server),
and let the Task Scheduler start the service, passing it
the name of the jobfile that is to be run. The service
will then do its job by opening the jobfile and
performing the copy operation using
machine/share/dir/file info from the jobfile.

Sounds fairly straight forward, but I'm unsure about what
is necessary for the service to be able to perform file
copy operations on remote machines. It needs to be able
to copy files from any network node to any other network
node. Ive read about using TCP/IP and MSMQ, but I'm not
sure whether I have to go to that length or not. I'm
thinking I can just make .NET "CopyTo" or "MoveTo"
function calls using the UNC for a given node to
accomplish the task.

I've been instructed that I can't use web services for
this application.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction,
suggest a good book or web resource that would be of help
in determining a good plan using the .NET framework...

Thanks,

Vince
