XML to XML

I want to convert an XML Document into another XML Document through
XslTransform.Transform, but I do not want to save the the resulting XML
document into a file or output stream. I want to save it into a XML
Documnet object.

Any help is appreciated.

Try using the overload of the Transform method that takes an XML writer and
pass in an XmlNodeWriter as input. You can get the XmlNodeWriter
implementation from

I have two functions you can use. Of course you must be
using the System.Xml namespace.

//This is if you have a dataset and an xsl document to
pass.
private string GetTransformedXML(DataSet ds,XslTransform
xslt){
XmlDataDocument xdd = new XmlDataDocument(ds);
XPathNavigator xpathNav = xdd.CreateNavigator
();
BufferedStream myStream = new BufferedStream(new
MemoryStream());

xslt.Transform(xpathNav, null, myStream);
myStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin);

StreamReader mySReader = new StreamReader
(myStream);
String output = mySReader.ReadToEnd();

return output;
}

//This is if you have an xml and xsl document to pass.
private string GetTransformedXML(XmlDocument
doc,XslTransform xslt){
XPathNavigator xpathNav = doc.CreateNavigator
();
BufferedStream myStream = new BufferedStream(new
MemoryStream());
xslt.Transform(xpathNav, null,myStream);
myStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin);

StreamReader mySReader = new StreamReader
(myStream);
String output = mySReader.ReadToEnd();

return output;
}

For example:

XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
doc.Load(Server.MapPath("xmldoc.xml"));

XslTransform xslt = new XslTransform();
xslt.Load(Server.MapPath("xsldoc.xsl"));

string xmlResults = GetTransformedXML(doc,xslt);

Voia! You have a new xml document!

XslTransform supports very efficient piping through async XmlReader output. In
this case new XmlReader is created and returned. Then the transformation
result can be read through this reader in asynchronous way with no any interim
buffers or streams:

XmlDocument result = new XmlDocument();
result.Load(xslt.Transform(source, null));

String output = mySReader.ReadToEnd();

btw, you can transform to string directly using StringWriter.
