SQL and VS 2005

Hello .Neters

I am brand new to the .Net.
I am VB6 developer.

I have just received my Visual Studio 2005 (Standard) and SQL 2005
(Standard)
from the Launch of these products.

Any good sites or samples to get up and familiar with these new products?
Can I create an app that will access a back end SQL database with the
Standard Version
or do I need something different.

Any help will be appreciated.
