Building Against Older Version of .NET Library

I've got an application that I had worked on earlier this year that was
working fine for customers. Recently, I was asked to make some updates.
I didn't have VS installed anymore, so I re-installed it and, during
the install process, I was upgraded to the latest version of the .NET
Library which my application consequently compiled against.

Net result: a lot of angry customers who are having difficulting
upgrading to the new .NET Library. Some of them (frighteningly) are
running on Windows 98 w/ dial-up connections and are having severe
difficultings updating. I've heard horror stories like "I was up all
night updating this; I downloaded the latest .NET and then it told me I
had to update all of these other components, and it just kept going back
and forth like that."

So I'd like to build my program against an older version of the .NET
library to avoid these problems (it certainly doesn't use any new
features of .NET). Here are my questions:

1) Where do I find older version of .NET and how do I even
tell what version they are?

2) Can I have more than one version installed simultaneously?

3) How do I compile against a different version of .NET?

I haven't been able to find an answer in the VS documentaiton or MSDN.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Todd
