Browse and remove nodes

Is there an XML file editor that will allow me to delete nodes? I tried
XMLSpy Home Edition and I can't get it to do this. Ideally I would like
to collapse all nodes and just select and delete the ones that I don't
want based on the opening tag.

Upon further investigation it appears that XMLSpy's Grid view is what I
want, but it's only available in the full version and it's not worth
400 Euros just to be able to delete tags from a text file. Are there
any alternatives that provide this feature?

I just tried XMLMind, and it can do what I want.

Update: It mangles the XML that I don't delete from the document. Maybe
I'm being unfair, as it is the application that reads the XML file that
is sensitive to the difference between spaces and newlines, but still
it's no use to me for this reason. Any other suggestions?
