use of functions in XML schema

Hi,

is it possible to use some kind of date functions in XML schema?

For instance, if I wanted to place a restriction on a simpleType (of date type) not to be later than
"today" - would there be some kind of function like "now ()" or "today ()" where i could use:

minInclusive = today ()

when specifying the restriction for a date type in xml schema?

Leon.
