Deepa,
I want to know the difference between desktop application and intranet
application when to do desktop application and when intranet application.

This is as comparing a wheels with a car. A desktop application can be a
part of an intranet application.

I hope this helps,

Cor

DS,

Some people say a webapplication is easier to deploy. However with click
once a windowforms operation is in my opinion as well easy to deploy.

If it is not only for showing data, than a windowsform application is in my
opinion always to prefer above a webapplication.

Just my thought,

Ds,

What do you mean with performance in this.

Performance can be dependeable from

Your server, your clientstation, the way the program is written, your
database server, the load, the used lan, the througput performance of the
lan, etc etc.

VBNet is a program language

ASPNet is the general description of the part of the framework about
Internet/Intranet applications, for that you can use VBNet or C#

I hope this helps,
