Hard Closing Socket cannot be detected?

Hello Developers,
I am developing Server and Client applications at Visual C++ .NET Windows
Forms. They are communicating with each others by TCP/IP Sockets. While there
is a communication between them, if any of them is closed, other is trying to
re-connect. But, when any of them is closed hardly, like pressing ShutDown
button or unplug the power cable of PC, other application, which is working
at other PC, cannot detect loss of communication. If I send a command, it is
able to detect error and trying to re-connect. How can I detect loss of
communication when any of the system is closed hardly?.
I thank you in advance for your consideration.
