Will .Net Framework 2.0 be shipped with Windows Vista (Longhorn)

I'd heard and believed that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
would be shipped with Windows Vista(Longhorn). Not as an
'additional' component, but, you know, already installed
so that developers don't have to nag their users to
download and install .NET Framework Redistributable.
Recently, I heard that it will NOT shipped with Windows Vista.
Is it true?

As Windows Vista isn't here today, I guess nobody can say for sure. However,
my opinion is that *some* version of .NET framework will absolutely ship
with Vista. Whether it is 1.1, 2.0 or even 2.1, I cannot say -- it could
even be a combination of versions.

Today, Windows Server 2003 is the only operating system version that comes
with .NET 1.1 pre-installed. However, many PCs today have it because of
Windows Update. Since .NET is indeed important to Microsoft and they have
constantly said that future Windows version will have it pre-installed, I
cannot see any reason why they wouldn't include a .NET version in Vista as
well.

How crazy we both (as citizens from he EU) probably find it, do I know one.

(However they can put it than probably separately on the same/separated
CD/DVD, so that people can decide of they install it or not. Although that
is AFAIK not the case with that crazy same price version for XP without
MediumPlayer, which has cost our EU community a lot of money and probably
never will be used)

Just my thoughts.

Hehee, I see. :-)

Seriously speaking, EU could of course intervene, but then again I don't
think .NET itself would be the target. It would be the other innovations, I
assume.

As Windows Vista should have Avalon and Indigo pre-installed, it should also
have at least the v2.x framework installed.
