what permissions are needed for installing a windows service?

I wrote a windows service. I would like the service to run as a custom user
account I created. I am using InstallUtil.exe to install it. If I install
the service on my machine using my username/password it works. If I install
the service using the new custom user account/password it fails and says 'The
service did not start due to a logon failure.'. I'm guess the account needs
to be part of a Windows group but I have no idea which one. Does anyone have
any ideas?
