For days and days, I have been trying to see a URL's parsing in a DOM tree
(links collection, images and other DHTML elements) in Visual Basic.........
Total Disaster!!!!!!!!!! Way too many examples that are not right or old or
C# or something else.
Prefer vb Module rather than a Form1 (UI_Less, script F5 style rather than
Button1 Click type). That's why I don't want to use axWebBrowser or call IE,
etc.
Tried System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser, but could not figure out
br.Navigate("about:blank") wait till br.DocumentComplete and then load your
string/stream, etc.
I can however get a stream from a URL via WebRequest + WebResponse or via
WebClient.
However, after that cannot figure out which method is the best to Load the
string/stream to a DOM.....or going straight to the URL... via....
object.Navigate(sURLString)
There is System.XML.XMLDocument.....but HTML string does not load....because
HTML syntax is not good enough for XML DOM.
Some people say.... .NET DOM is not that good, use
mshtml.HTMLDocument instead.....even though marshalling may cause poor
performance. But I could not make "createDocumentFromURL" work either.
Why cannot I find a single good and rock solid sample code in VB.
VS 2.0 Help is hopeless, newsgroups/MSDN/Microsoft does not have anything
decent.
