connection timeout issue

Hi,
I am using the data access app block and I keep getting the error

"Timeout
expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or
the server is not responding".

using the foll code

sqlhelper.ExecuteNonQuery(connstr,commandType.Stor edProcedure,"myProc",
NEW SqlParameter("@par",myparam))

Note: My sp takes a lonf time to run. Usually 18 mins from SQL Analyser.

I then added "Connect Timeout" to my connection string like

connstr = "Server=box;UID=user;UID=pass;DATABASE=vault;Conne ct Timeout = 1000"

But now

the stored procedure executed fine from the app but does not finish. It
stops without throwing an error.

I then tried passing a connection to the SqlHelper instead of the string like

Dim conn as sqlConnection = New SqlConnection

conn.open

sqlhelper.ExecuteNonQuery(connstr,commandType.Stor edProcedure,"myProc",
NEW SqlParameter("@par",myparam))

conn.close

But same thing happen the stored procedure executed fine from the app but
does not finish. It stops without throwing an error.

Any ideas on solving this issue?
