Visual studio net project has problem to browse the folders

After I installed Office 2003 into my machine, I have problems of browse the
folders
using Visual studio net. Whenever I want to save or find files from some
folders, the
machine hangs for couple of minutes. I have the same problem when I use
office product, e.g., words. It takes a long period to use file dialog box
to find some files or save files to desired folders. My platform is Windows
XP professional. I wonder if some window browser or index service did not
start. I made sure index service started. Please help.

Hi

First of all, I would like to confirm my understanding of your issue. From
your description, I understand that your VS.NET hangs after installing
Office 2003. If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me
know.

I think this might not be caused by Office 2003. I have Office 2003 and
VS.NET 2003 installed on both of my two machines, and they works fine for
years. So it's hard to reproduce this problem.

I suggest you to check if you have any anti-virus program installed on your
machine. If yes, you can try to uninstall it.

HTH.

FYI I've had this also once because a server was removed (and it was still
used likely because of the newtwork favorites or because of the recently
opened files feature).

If installing Office is really the only change, no dice...

Hi Kevin,
I agree with you that might not be office 2003 issue. I have other machines
too work just fine with office 2003 installed. I have latest Macfee
installed in my machine, and I might scan over night to see what happened.
I’ll let you know. Thanks

Hi. I've been having exactly the same problem. I even tried reinstalling vs
2003, to no avail. I've tried playing with anti-virus software, but this
hasn't helped either. If it's anti-virus software one would think it would
affect other software as well. I have had office installed for quite some
time, with no former problems.
