linking documents to Clients/Orders/Suppliers/...

Hi,

I need to built an application (VB.NET) to manage Clients, Orders,
Suppliers, Products etc. But the users must be able to link word
documents/excel/emails to all those entities (Customers, Orders, Suppliers,
....).

Is there some Microsoft product that does this stuff and which I can
integrate its functionaity's in my application? Or should I develop my own
system for this, and how should I do this?

Thanks,

Pieter
