Configuration Application block

I would like to know if any guidelines exist from Microsoft on the following:

If I have some configuration data and I would like to choose the best
possible approach to store the data. The configuration block will provide
different ways to store e.g. xml files, db files, registry etc. Are there any
such guidelines (e.g. nature of the data) that will decide the best storage.

Dheeraj,

Why do you think that there are so many possibilities?

Someone posted this link before and I liked the approach...seems
simple and flexible.
