Update DataSet from Datagrid

I am trying to update information in a SQL database using vb.net web forms.
I have been able to add information to a datagrid, but when I try to actually
update the SQL database from the dataset, it does not seem to work. Here is
the code that I am using. SqlDataAdapter1.Update(DsGender1). When I put
this in an if/then statement, it says that there are no updates. My question
is, How do I update the dataset with the information in the datagrid?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
