VS 2003 Won’t Create New Projects

Hello,

For some weeks now I seem to be unable to create new projects in Visual
Studio 2003. It does not matter which language I use, nor which project
type I want to create.

As soon as I press "OK" after having selected a language/project
type/project name, the IDE gives me an error notification saying "The
indicated module was not found." That’s all.
In case of VB.NET and C#, a folder with the project’s name is created at
the right location (for C++, even that isn’t done). The folder contains
subfolders "bin" and "obj" as well as a file '<projectname>.vbproj' or
'<projectname>.csproj' respectively. The file contains some plausible
but otherwise unhelpful data.

Does anybody know the reasons (or even better, a fix) for this problem?

Possible hint to the problem: The error message I get is in German, as
my windows machine is a German version. However, the Visual Studio IDE
is /French/ so I would expect IDE-related error messages to be in
French, too.

Hi Konrad,

This may not solve your problem, but some problems causing the Visual
Studio .Net to fail creating projects can be related to Internet
Explorer's VBScript. I don't recognize your error message, but it might
be worthwhile checking that all IE patches are installed, especially the
VBScript.

Explorer's VBScript. I don't recognize your error message, but it
might be worthwhile checking that all IE patches are installed,
especially the VBScript.

Thanks for the input. While it didn’t amend this particular problem, it
showed me that my PC wasn’t up to date with regards to some .NET
Framework service packs which I’ve installed now.

I guess I’ll file a support request to Microsoft, then.
