Product Key System

We're trying to secure a software product. I need a way of reading in some
(any) completely unique information on which to base our product key system.
We thought of reading in the Windows key -- but this isn't perfect for what
we're wanting. We know XP builds some hardware based string that's
unique -- any way to utilize this -- or has anyone came up with a method
that builds some unique id information based on their hardware.

Thanks,
- Jason
