Are Remoting and Web Services Equivalent?

Hi,

I'm currently exposing some methods via HTTP/SOAP remoting. Someone
recently asked if I could expose these methods as a "Web Service" and I
wasn't sure how to answer. Is remoting using HTTP/SOAP the equivalent of a
web service? If not, how do the two concepts differ?

Thanks,

Larry David
