Machine Debug Manager keeps open Reg handle (slow log off)

P: n/a

I reported this to Microsoft over a year ago, but so far have not seen
anything in the KB.

Has anyone experienced slow logoff after installing Visual Studio.NET 2002
or 2003 on Win2000? If so, it's almost certainly caused by the "Machine
Debug Manager" service holding a registry key open. Not only will it cause
slow log off, but could also prevent settings being saved to the user

I don't know if the same happens on XP.

If you have Visual Studio .NET, try logging off and then back on again. If
it says "Saving personal settings" for more than five seconds it means you
are seeing the problem. I've tested this on various AMD/INTEL machines, both
stand-alone and on a network, with different Anti-Virus vendors.
