General Network Error.

P: n/a

I am sporadically receiving an error: General Network Failure
I have two servers: one sql and one web. Each of the server are running win 2003 standard edition. The server are connected directy with a cross over cable. The error seems to occur when we have multiple users making queries or creating a lot of network traffic. I have thought about combining the db and web server, but I don't understand how larger companies seperate their devices and not run into these type of problems. I am running code and using sql 2000 server. Any help would be appreciated
