I recently reformatted my hard disk, and now have a problem installing
Visual Studio.NET professional 2003. I put in disk 1, it installs the
prerequisites, then prompts for the product key, which is accepted. It is an
upgrade product, so it then asks for the upgrade product, so I put in my
VS2002 CD, which it verifies, then asks for disk 1 again. I click Install
Now, then it goes through 'Validating install order', ' Generating Setup
Script', 'Executing Action', then 'Installing Microsoft Visual Studio.NET
Professional 2003'. It starts copying files, and somewhere during this, the
system hangs, not on the same file every time, but always on the first disk.
The mouse pointer is frozen and I have to reset the system. The same happens
if I install VS.NET 2002, but I have installed other software on the system
without a problem. The OS is Win 2000 Professional SP4, and the only other
software I have installed is Office 2000, Embedded Visual Tools, Activesync
3.7, Adobe Reader, Partition Magic 8 and Winzip. I have not set up an
internet connection to
this machine yet, so I have no antivirus or firewall software running. The
PC is an Athlon 1.3GHZ with 512MB RAM. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy Baker
